Introducing...

Jacee Gellard, Workplace Health and Safety Officer.
Jacee recently joined the team as our new Workplace Health and Safety Officer. With over 27 years of experience in the mining, construction and food processing industries, Jacee brings vital knowledge and expertise to our operations. Welcome Jacee!
What did you do prior to joining the Bryant team?
My previous job was as a Safety Advisor for one of Queensland’s largest privately owned industrial services operations. A key part of my role was monitoring health, safety and rehabilitation performance and I implemented a number of initiatives to improve health and safety across the company.
I have a lot of experience in the mining and exploration sectors, where OHSE standards are very strict. I’ve worked up in PNG as part of a world class international exploration drilling company and also on one of the largest design and construction contracts awarded in the Australian coal industry. This experience will benefit the Bryant business as it reaches into new sectors, particularly mining.
Obviously health and safety in the workplace is your passion. Why this career path?
I like to make a positive difference in peoples’ lives. It gives me great satisfaction and pride knowing that what I do can prevent injuries and illnesses to fellow employees and help them to return home safely to their families each day.
I also enjoy being able to support businesses in reducing costs and optimising employee contributions through the identification and reduction of workplace hazards.
What was it about Bryant that attracted you to the business?
I was really impressed with how Bryant is focused on integrating safety into their corporate culture.
In this role I am going to be given a broad range of responsibilities and some interesting challenges - managing different hazards and implementing controls while helping the business to maintain its profitability. I’m excited to be getting back into the construction industry.
If you could influence one major issue in the construction industry, what would it be and why?
I would personally like to increase management, supervisor and subcontractor knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation to ensure the safety of others in the workplace.
