Project Update
Continuing involvement in Groote Eylandt Manganese Mine
Groote Eylandt, the largest island in the Gulf of Carpentaria located in north-eastern Australia, is home to a large manganese mine owned and operated by the Groote Eylandt Mining Company Pty Ltd (GEMCO). GEMCO is jointly owned by BHP Billiton (60 per cent) and the Anglo American Corporation (40 per cent). The mine is one of the world’s leading suppliers of manganese ore.
Bryant first became involved in the Groote Eylandt operations in 1986, and since that time we have delivered and upgraded a number of projects including residential housing, sports facilities and community buildings.
We are pleased to announce that we have recently entered into our second contract with GEMCO to continue providing design and construction services for the Housing Re-Development Project Stage 2. In December 2011, Bryant successfully completed Stage 1, the re-development of 20 houses.
Our team is extremely excited about our ongoing involvement in this significant operation and look forward to further developing our relationship with BHP Billiton and Anglo American.
