Torres Strait Primary Health Care Centres
| Location: | Yam, Maguiag and Moa Islands, Torres Strait |
| Client: | Queensland Department of Health |
| Completion: | April 2004 |
Project Overview
The project was part of a major state government initiative to improve health facilities in remote areas. The project involved the construction of three primary health care centres on remote outer islands of the Torres Strait. Part of Bryant’s scope was to demolish existing facilities.
Highlights
The project was completed on time and within budget. It required advanced logistical planning in relation to required resources. An initial shipment of several thousand tonnes of materials and machinery was made, followed by ongoing weekly shipments for the duration of the project. Bryant successful address issues such as lack of local service infrastructure and the requirement for subcontractors to work quickly between clinics to maintain the project schedule.
